The First 42 Days

Ayurvedic Postpartum Doula

  Online Training

A complete system of wholebody care for new mothers in the First 42 Days after birth

Lead by Jenna Furnari and Lisa Arshawsky

This training is designed to support you in sharing the invaluable care for mothers in the First 42 Days following birth. Now more than ever it is critical that women have access to the complete care that will restore them entirely, at levels of mind, body and spirit. We have joined the wisdom of Ayurveda and the insight of midwifery to create a course that will prepare you to guide new mothers through perhaps the greatest transition of their lives. This work will build a solid foundation within the families you support, empowering them to regenerate health and promote longevity over an entire lifetime.

The Pillars of The First 42 Days

Nourishment.

This training includes a complete First 42 Days menu, cookbook and in-depth guidance on the use of foods and herbs. You will be walked through the preperation details of foods for each day for the new mother and the ayurvedic wisdom of rebuilding health from the inside out through what goes into the body.

Yoga.

In the weeks following birth, the yoga practice for a new mother takes form of very gentle meditation and breathwork. The practices shared help to connect mothers to the monumental process taking place in their heart, body and life. These practices bring to mothers open safe space enabling her to find her way back in to her body once more.

Bodywork.

One of the core treatments of Ayurveda is warm oil massage. Together we'll look at the quality and importance of oils to be used for both mother and baby. You'll learn this system to apply for yourself as well as how to guide mothers through this self-care practice. You'll also be learning the healing therapy of belly wrapping and more.

Rest.

Rest is a true pillar of rebuilding health after the baby has arrived. As an ayurvedic postpartum doula you will support women in the First 42 Days by helping them through prenatal visits to ensure a postpartum experience with as much ease as possible.

"Care began as soon as my labor began, and what I received was like the greatest package of healing love. I appreciate it so so much. I know that as I entered the new world of motherhood this support truly helped to uplift me and set me on an incredible path of healing. I can't believe how grounded and balanced I felt at a point of such newness and exhaustion. I am very grateful and can't wait to spread the word." -Elisa, Venice CA

The Ayurvedic First 42 Day Care Program is a holistic system of medicine that makes care available to women in the 6-weeks immediately following the birth of their baby. Ayurveda applies care by assessing each individual uniquely on levels of mind, body and spirit. In this program we take a look at the three doshas (body types) and consider which angle of treatment is most beneficial for the brand new mother and how to apply direct support in ways that make profound healing impact.

"Jenna and Lisa are an incredibly brilliant team with much knowledge and passion for sharing this work. What they share for supporting the First 42 Days is very nourishing and renewing for the first weeks after a mother gives birth to her baby or babies. I was blown away by the amount of information that came with this course. I was left feeling more inspired and more ready than ever to begin this work as an Ayurvedic Postpartum Doula." -Jill, Monterey CA

Ayurveda is the “science of life” and says that the way the First 42 Days are spent after birth impacts the next 42 years of life. These teachings for the First 42 Days that we will dive into together include complete instruction on ayurvedic food preparation, nutrition, herbal remedies, body care, warm oil massage, belly wrapping, bath soaks, meditation, breathwork practices, lactation support, special healing guidelines for cesarean birth and so much more.

"The mission of the First 42 Days is to encourage deep internal healing and rebuilding of strength back into the mother’s body following childbirth. The care that comes into the home of a new mother and baby deeply restores vitality and together the new mother and baby can find ease and spontaneous connection to one another. This period of time sets a foundation for the new mother and the entire household to stand on through the great journey that lies ahead for the growing family." -Jenna Furnari
